We might not live in California or Florida, but we are still lucky enough to be a coastal state, meaning that we can enjoy our Spring Break soaking up some rays on the beach. Texas beaches get a lot of flack for having brown water, less-than-aesthetic sand, and copious amounts of seaweed, but this is a gross generalization and certainly not true for every beach in the state. South Padre Island easily has the most gorgeous beaches in Texas, and that combined with the plethora of tourist activities makes it the perfect place to spend your Spring Break.
Since the widest point of the island is half a mile, you’re always mere minutes away from beautiful sandy beaches and blue water.

Not only can you relax and soak up some rays, but you can also participate in a variety of activities including water sports, sandcastle lessons, and nature trails right near the ocean.
One of the main draws to the island is the annual hatching of the Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles from April-August.

Their exact hatching time can’t be narrowed down explicitly, but just know that you might catch a glimpse of thousands of majestic infant creatures crawling towards the water.

South Padre is also home to one of four Schlitterbahn locations in Texas. It may not compare to the original, but the fact that it’s so close to the water adds a unique appeal.

Between the beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants, and countless tourist attractions, South Padre Island will make you feel like you’ve escaped to a faraway tropical paradise this Spring Break.
