Wedgewood Village Amusement Park originally started as Duffy’s Driving Rang in Oklahoma City in the 1950s. The owner, Mr. Woods, noticed the children had nothing to do while the parents were busy at the range, so he decided to add a few rides. From that humble beginning, Duffy’s became the largest and most modern amusement park in Oklahoma City until it closed down in 1969. Duffy’s was renamed Wedgewood after Mr. Woods two favorite golf clubs - the wood (driver) and the pitching wedge.

In 1957 Wedgewood moved to a new location on 30 acres on NW Expressway. The new park added more rides including a train that went around the perimeter of the park.

Who remembers riding the giant Tornado Roller Coaster at Wedgewood? This park quickly became a favorite and grew to the largest amusement park in Oklahoma City.

The Roto Jet was one of the most popular rides. It was located in the middle of the park.

The largest pool in Oklahoma was also built with diving boards and became a favorite summer spot to cool off.

Even with all the booming business, Wedgewood lost money and eventually had to close its doors 12 years after opening and auction off the land. Wedgewood Condominiums were built on the former grounds of the amusement park and even today, a few remnants from the park can still be seen.
