The trail is roughly a mile long (and steep at times), splintering off from the south end of the Indian Sands parking lot. The trail descends and then forks – turn right to go westward. The trails here are a bit confusing, but if you go into it with an adventurous spirit you’ll find your way there in no time.

These rugged cliffs are an amazing place to explore, relax, and play. You’ll stumble across cool sandstone features, stunning viewpoints, bunches of wildflowers in the springtime, and long, silky stretches of sand that beckon you to plop down and take off your shoes.

While sand dunes are almost always found right along the shoreline, these unusual dunes were actually formed high above the water where the years have worn away at the sandstone cliffs, leaving behind large piles of sand.
