Sometimes when life has twists and turns, you need to get away from it all. Luckily in Louisiana we have some roads to help you do just that. There are so many beautiful roads in the state it can be hard to pick just one, but we think that Louisiana Highway 1 just might be the most gorgeous of all. Here’s what you can expect if you take this route:

LA 1 is actually one of the longest state highways, going a full diagonal across the state.

As you continue south you will go around False River, a lovely little lake that can be found in this part of the state.

Eventually you’ll come across the E. D. White Plantation, a Louisiana state historic site in Thibodaux.

Once you continue going South, you will come across the Leeville Bridge, a multi year project that has created a truly unique bridge.

dotd.la.gov There are some absolutely beautiful views that you can catch traveling down this part of the road.

As you continue past Golden Meadow, the road will really make you feel that you are in the middle of nowhere.

Climate.gov It’s a great place to get away from it all and ponder the great transformation this region is experiencing as water rises.

Finally you can end your trip at Grand Isle, a popular Louisiana beach destination.
