The Airline State Park Trail is a rail trail over 50 miles in length!

The line was envisioned as a straight trip from New York City to Boston, but the expensive cost of building through mountains and over water eventually lead to abandonment. Stones mark the state line where the trail then continues in to Massachusetts.

Can you say waterfront? This trail crosses the Blackledge River, Jeremy River and Judd Brook.

There are even viaducts and a marsh hiding within this linear park that encloses the trail. Along the way you may find what’s left of some tracks as you cross under historic bridges and catch a peek of the Northeast corner of Connecticut.
