One of the hallmarks of a Maine summer is the good ol’ fashioned neighborhood yard sale. Once the folding tables come out on a sunny Saturday morning, you know the rest of the day can be spent hopping from one lawn to another looking for castaway treasures in need of a new home. But one Maine area has taken the simple yard sale to a whole new level.
In the 1980s, the residents of Cornville, Maine came together to create a small yard sale.

What started as a few neighbors who decided to do their spring cleaning at the same time grew into an event covered by media all over the state.

Over the course of the last 30 years, this group yard sale has expanded to include TEN MILES of participants.

From Skowhegan to West Ridge Road to the Malbons Mill Road and beyond, households save their no-longer-needed treasures all year and bring them out all at once.

The famous ten-mile Cornville yard sale takes place every year, for the full weekend just before Memorial Day, rain or shine.
