With shows like “The Walking Dead” and “iZombie”, Zombies are having a major media moment. They’re even making their way into blockbuster hits, which got me thinking…what if they made their way into New Jersey? They don’t exist, of course, but if they did…where would we hide? Though this post is all in good fun, these are some really great places!

  1. Sterling Hill Mining Museum, Ogdensburg

Facebook/SterlingHillMiningMuseum Not only is this an incredible museum, you can head deep underground to explore the mine! Bring food, block off the entrance, and hope for the best.

  1. Crooked Swamp Cave, Lafayette Township

Flickr/rpealit This cafe is difficult to navigate, there is no way slow, clumsy zombies will make their way through. This is the perfect spot for advanced spelunkers.

  1. Abandoned Bunker, Cape May

Flickr/Sahigg This WWII bunker was built for maximum protection. Meant to withstand all sorts of artillery fire, it can definitely handle zombies.

  1. Mountain Creek, Vernon

Flickr/AnthonyQuintano The climb to the top would be difficult for anyone, impossible for zombies. Head up with supplies and shut down the lift.

  1. Spirit of New Jersey, Weehawken

Image/SpiritCruises We all know that zombies can’t swim, so a boat is the perfect place to be. This boat is not just any boat, it’s fully stocked with food and fun!

  1. USS Ling, Hackensack

Wikipedia/PublicDomain Above the water is great, but under the water is even better. This submarine was made to be lived in and would be a great place to hide from zombies.

  1. Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck

Wikipedia/PublicDomain You’ve got an abundance of brave men and women along with loads of weapons - sounds pretty safe to me.

  1. Teterboro Airport, Teterboro

Flickr/AnthonyQuintano The fences are high, the security is tight, and you’ve got access to planes for scouting and rescue missions!

What other great places to hide can you think of? Let’s all pitch in suggestions and save the human race!
