Here in New Hampshire, June is a gorgeous month in which everything is suddenly green and flowers bloom everywhere. However, there’s one particular wildflower bloom that you definitely need to make a trip to see.

Lupines are a gorgeous wildflower that pops up every June in the Franconia Notch region, carpeting fields in purple, blue and white. The sight is especially striking against the backdrop of the Franconia and Presidential ranges.

The Celebration of Lupines is a series of events throughout the region that encourages visitors to get out and enjoy the beautiful blossoms while they last.

This year’s celebration runs from June 1-30, and includes a photography contest, poetry walks, and horse-drawn carriage rides through the lupine fields.

Visit Sugar Hill, where the most spectacular blooms take place, the weekend of June 3-4 for an open air market with craftspeople, storytelling, and more.

Artists and photographers are inspired every year by the beautiful wildflowers - and photographers, taken note - there’s a photography contest that you can enter when you take a photo of lupines in a participating town in the month of June.

The lupine bloom is a transcendent, magical natural experience that you won’t want to miss. For a moment you’ll never forget, wake up early enough to catch the sunrise over the fields of flowers. You won’t regret it!
