There is a wide variety of roadside attractions. Giant statues, quirky rest stops, historic sites… the list goes on. North Dakota has plenty of its own, including quite a few that are pretty out there in terms of uniqueness. This particular stop is one like no other, and has so much to see you might as well utilize their campground and stay more than one day!

The Dale and Martha Hawk Museum is just north of Wolford, North Dakota. It has the state’s “largest display of prairie life.”

One of their most popular and interesting collections is their old, vintage tractors and other farm equipment. Many steam tractors here are the last still-running of their kind, and people will travel far to see them.

But the Dale and Martha Hawk Museum has much more than tractors, it also has just about anything else you could think of. Old musical instruments, for example.

The museum grounds even include original, old, small town buildings moved onto the site. A school house, blacksmith, church, and more, all filled with everything you’d see when they were still in use.

Visiting here is like stepping back in time while also viewing one of the biggest collections of such things. Their buildings contain thousands of pieces, and there is a building for just about everything. A house full of clocks, a house full of dolls, an old general store and post office, even a building with cars from as early as the 1920s.

The round Law Library is another interesting part of the property. There is just so much here to see that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.

Each year the museum hosts an annual Antique Farm Show to showcase their equipment, including some in action. This will be the 28th year they’ve held it!
