No matter where you hike in Colorado, you are pretty much guaranteed to have amazing views of incredible scenery. However, if you crave a hike that comes complete with out-of-this-world panoramic views, you are going to LOVE this easy trail that leads you to one of the best views in the entire state:
Nestled within the Pike National Forest lies the Devil’s Head Lookout Trail; a 1.4-mile trail that begins at the popular Devil’s Head Campground and ends at one of the best hidden gems in the state.

Taking about an hour to complete, the Devil’s Head Lookout Trail features an elevation gain of almost 1,000 feet, as well as a winding dirt path…

…and plenty of natural shade from the area’s towering trees and surrounding boulders.

While the hike itself is not the most memorable, the prize at the end certainly is, as the trail leads to the historic Devil’s Head Lookout!

Originally established in 1912 (and then built in 1919), this National Register of Historic Places site is the last of its kind along the front range and boasts some of the best views in all of Colorado.

As per the U.S. Forest Service, “Devil’s Head Lookout Trail can be reached by traveling approximately ten miles west of Sedalia on Highway 67 to the Rampart Range Road. Turn left (south) on the Rampart Range Road for approximately eight and one-half miles to the trailhead.”
