New Jersey has so many gorgeous trails and I write about them as often as I can. But there’s one type of trail I haven’t written about… How does a hike along the Jersey Shore sound? Fantastic, of course. And this isn’t just your average “long walk on the beach.”

Hartshorne Woods is a county park located in Atlantic Highlands.

A hike here means rolling hills…

River and ocean views…

Along with strolling past old bunkers…

And concrete artillery batteries from WWII.

There are miles of trails in this park but the most enchanting are in the Rocky Point section of the park.

Definitely hike the Bunker Loop, Battery Loop and Black Fish Cove Trail. All three trails combined come in at around 2 miles and they are rated moderate. For trail maps, check out NJHiking.com. For more beautiful hiking trails in New Jersey, check out this list.
