DC is known for, well, many things, but mostly museums. We have so many to choose from and there is always a fantastic rotating display of exhibits that Washingtonians and tourists stand in long lines to see. But there is one completely exhibit coming to DC this summer that you actually must see!
Let’s start off by saying that the National Building Museum just might be the most underrated museum in all of DC. Most people just don’t know about it but they really should. Because first of all, it’s gorgeous…

But they are also are known for doing some of the most interesting installations and exhibits in the district. Like when they had a massive labyrinth a few years ago.

Or two summers ago when they created a beach right in the middle of the museum using 650,000 plastic balls.

But this year, they are taking it up a notch and throwing the coolest summer block party ever inside of their biggest exhibit.

The museum worked with architecture group Studio Gang to create the Hive, a massive installation made of 2,700 wound paper tubes.

The Hive reaches 60 feet tall and consists of three interconnect domed chambers where visitors can enter and explore.

Each structure has a unique acoustic style and there are different instruments in each chamber where visitors can explore how the structures modify sound, light and human interaction.
