Delaware’s state parks are full of hidden treasures – from Fort Miles Historic Area at Cape Henlopen State Park, to the incredible paddle trails at Trap Pond State Park, to the thrilling waterpark hidden in the woods at Killens Pond State Park, you’re never without something to do! However cool these larger state parks may be, there is one smaller state park that often gets overlooked, despite being one of the most interesting spots in the entire state.

Alapocas Run State Park, is located in Wilmington, at 1914 West Park Dr.

The park offers miles of walking trails through scenic forests and the only outdoor rock climbing in Delaware.

It’s also home to the first Boundless Playground in Delaware. The Can-Do Playground at Alapocas Run is designed so that children of all abilities can play together on specialty playground equipment.

From the Bancroft Mills parking lot, you can get a close look at the ruins of an industrial legend.

The mill was once home to a gigantic textile manufactuerer. After a long and storied history, the buildings are now burnt out and abandoned.

Just across the street, you can wander into historic Rockford Park.
