There’s a state park in Louisiana that’s simply magical. Well manicured lawns, beautiful gardens, water features, and a large lake make this park the perfect place to escape to when you need to recharge.
Located in Sabine Parish, Hodges Gardens State Park is one of the most unique state parks in Louisiana.

The park officially opened in 1956, and was the brainchild of A.J. Hodges

The park is part of the original 107,000 acres of land that Mr. Hodges purchased around 1940.
JasShreveport_LA/Trip Advisor He planted pine seedlings over 39,000 of those acres and became a leader in the reforestation movement. Once they saw the potential of the land, he and his wife began building the gardens.
Today, the park is 700 acres of well maintained natural beauty.

There are also several nature trails ranging from half a mile to over 7 miles.
