Atlanta Prison Farm. Now defunct, this prison was once a thriving, fully operational correctional facility from 1945 to 1995. While some ghost hunters claim the prison site, despite rotting away into ruins, is haunted, others claim that it’s merely a decaying prison with very dark secrets. One way or another, Atlanta Prison Farm is worth visiting, and here is why…

Sitting on nearly 400 acres of land in the Atlanta area, you’ll find the Old Atlanta Prison Farm.

Yet, for the last two and a half decades, the prison lay in shambles, rotting away everything that once stood sturdy.

All that remains in the prison are the colorful graffiti walls and the familiar “vine that ate the South.”

However, many people claim that the Atlanta Prison Farm is haunted.

Perhaps not necessarily haunted by ghosts, or scary spirits, but by the souls of the people who were trapped between those walls for far too long.

Since the property became abandoned, rumors ran rampant about what was left behind.

According to an article from the Atlanta Journal Constitution, an elephant and a gorilla from the Atlanta zoo are buried on the property.

Another unsubstantiated claim says a giraffe is buried on the property.

Which really makes you wonder…why would the zoo be burying the bodies of animals on the prison grounds?

Beyond the rumors and gossip, there are also a few ghost hunters who claimed that spirits and orbs can be seen throughout the property.

However, as always, the graffiti is a huge part of what makes the Atlanta Prison Farm one of the most unique places in the world.

If you decide to visit Atlanta Prison Farm for yourself, be warned that it is a no trespassing area.

Since the fire in 2009, so much of the structure has been burnt to rubble.

But it makes you wonder, is it really the fire that makes this site off limits, or the secrets between the walls?
