It’s the one and only Jarbidge Wilderness.

Nevada’s Jarbidge Wilderness, which is tucked away in northern Elko County and was established in 1964, was the first ever protected wilderness area in Nevada. Thanks to the Nevada Wilderness Act, the Jarbidge Wilderness was expanded in 1989. Today, this beautiful area consists of more than 113,000 acres of high mountains and deep canyons, in addition to 100 miles of hiking trails. The Jarbidge Wilderness is located within the Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and its elevation ranges from 5,000 feet to 10,000 feet.

The native habitats of the Jarbidge Wilderness include the following: Subalpine Fir, Whitebark Pine, Sagebush Steppe, Riparian Woodlands and Aspen Forests (pictured below).
