New York state is just chock-full of fun things to do. Visitors and residents alike love to head for Manhattan to view the city from the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock, but those experiences aren’t cheap (and tend to be full of tourists). Instead of Manhattan, head for Albany for a totally different (and FREE!) view.
The Erastus Corning Tower is located at 5 Empire Plaza in downtown Albany. It was built in 1966.

The tower is 589 feet tall, with 44 stories. Outside of New York City, it’s the tallest skyscraper in the state, and visitors can go up to the observation deck on the 42nd floor to see the city of Albany as never before.
