We recently wrote about the absolutely amazing World Ice Art Championship winter park presented by Ice Alaska in Fairbanks, but now we have to focus on something much more specific; the slide. The EPIC slide that is truly the main attraction at this magnificently impressive place. There are 16 ice slides in this majestic park that each offer something completely unique from the next. But the main attraction, the ‘big kahuna’ of ice slides – it will literally blow your mind.
The upcoming 2017 World Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks is currently set to run from February 20 to March 31.

The slides throughout this amazing experience will blow your mind. There are 16 ice slides in the park vary in length from 5 feet to 217 feet.

You’ll notice that each slide has a beautifully intricate design. In addition, each is named after a specific landmark, in an effort to encourage education in geography.

These slides are fun to ride on solo, with the kiddos or with your closest companions.

There is even a ‘slide a mile’ competition which encourages three essential areas including exercise, education and ethics.

For the exercise portion, competitors can complete 25 to 50 slide runs, which is equal to one mile. This is a fun and challenging way to burn calories over several days of sliding. Plus it encourages everyone to get outdoors, even during some of the coldest months of the year.

For the education portion, competitors must add the feet of each run, which takes lots of practice (i.e. calorie burning) too.

For the ethics portion, all attendees must go on the honor system to report their own score upon completion.

Joining in on the fun is most magical at nighttime when the impressive ice slides become lit up with a variety of magical colors. This fun competition can be completed by anyone of any age over the length of the Ice Alaska event.

At the end of the event, award certificates are given out to competitors from Ice Alaska signed by the Governor of Alaska. Additional prizes are also given to those that slide the farthest and to those that put in a tremendous amount of effort.
