This massive slip and slide hiding on the island of Oahu was not designed for the purpose of entertainment, and though it was once a wildly popular spot to beat the heat for those of all ages, it is illegal to visit the man-made working reservoir. The Waimanalo Reservoir was built in order to help with irrigation in Waimanalo, and serves approximately 126 acres of agricultural land in the area.
This activity is not actually legal – or even safe. The seams of the plastic tarp have been rumored to cut people, and unauthorized entry into the reservoir could leave you with a second-degree criminal trespassing charge, a petty misdemeanor in Hawaii.

And as of July 2014, the reservoir had achieved full capacity, according to the Agricultural Resource Management Division, meaning you’ll be doing a lot more swimming than sliding anyway.

This place seems pretty cool, doesn’t it? But again, please remember that visiting the Waimanalo Resevoir and hopping the fence that surrounds it will result in the creation of your criminal record – and nobody wants that.
