The little town of Galilee was named after the Biblical fishing town of the same name. It’s an authentic fishing village, and home to the largest fishing vessel fleet in the state. While visitors enjoy the pretty beaches and fishing charters here, the dock at Galilee is bustling with commercial fishing and lobster trade.

Galilee got its name from the Bible, and the island across from the village is named Jerusalem. Supposedly, a fisherman named the village in 1902. When asked what the island across was called, he said, “Must be Jerusalem.”
