Livermore, New Hampshire was once a thriving timber town. Three influential families known as the “timber barons” ran the affairs of the little forest town, and the remnants of their once-opulent mansions can still be found amongst the trees. This ghost town was established in 1874, and was abandoned around 1931.

About 150 people lived in the town, not including the loggers living at the timber camps nearby.

In 1951, the government bought the old town. Today, the ghost town is littered with the ruined mansions and belongings of the area’s old “timber barons.”
