Tucked away on the far edge of Sauvie Island, Warrior Rock Lighthouse is a wonderful hidden gem in Oregon. This historic lighthouse is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and can be reached on a peaceful 6-mile hike. Check it out:

Warrior Rock Lighthouse was first lit in 1889, though it was rebuilt in 1930. At 25 feet tall, it’s the smallest lighthouse in the state – and it’s still in use today.

To get there, you can either take a boat from the nearby town of Saint Helens, or you can take a gorgeous 6-mile hike right up to the base of the lighthouse.

Beginning at the Warrior Point Trailhead, this out-and-back hike is roughly 3 miles each way. A dirt path winds through a cottonwood forest beside the river all the way to the edge of Sauvie Island, where you’ll find the little white lighthouse. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way!

The trail is open year round, but can be muddy at different times of the year. Don’t forget to pick up a Sauvie Island day pass on your way to the trailhead.
