Small town life is great. Local shops, friendly neighbors, and that feeling that everyone knows your name. We’ve got a lot of awesome little towns in Louisiana, but there’s one that stands out from the rest. Let’s take a look!

Founded in 1813, Covington has a lot of history.
Wikimedia The town was originally named Wharton, after its founder, John Wharton Collins. The city was formally incorporated in 1816 and renamed Covington. There are conflicting stories as to how the city got its name. One theory is that the city was named after General Leonard Covington, a hero of the War of 1812. Another theory is that it was named to honor Blue Grass whiskey, which is made in Covington, Kentucky.
The Bogue Falaya Park is a great place to sit and relax (and let the kids play).
