There’s no question that Arizona is home to some mighty tasty dishes and an impressive number of award-winning restaurants. You can find plenty of these in our major cities but our small towns have some amazing restaurants as well. Today, we’re going to take a look at one restaurant in Globe that has served mouthwatering Mexican food for decades and is one place you need to visit when in the area.

This is Guayo’s El Rey, located a short distance off the 60 in Miami.

The restaurant dates to 1938, making this place a family and regional tradition that also happens to serve some mighty good food.

You’ll find the food served here to be piping hot and homemade (even the chips and salsa), plus a friendly atmosphere that will make you feel right at home.

It’s difficult to decide which dishes here stand out. The tacos are well-seasoned and crispy, the tamales are large and moist, and the chimis are just right when served wet or dry.

Just be sure to bring an empty belly when you arrive because you won’t want to leave behind a single morsel behind when dining here.

The family also owns a location in nearby Globe called Guayo’s On The Trail (named so because it is located along Apache Trail) and Guayos which recently re-opened in Show Low.
