But if you’ve ever seen Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle in Spokane, you know that it’s definitely one of the most unique restaurants in America, at least in shape.
The milk bottle is actually one of two of its kind located in Spokane.
Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle / Yelp Built in 1935 by dairy merchant Paul E. Newport, it was designed to make dairy products more appealing to young people. Each building cost $3,500 to make.
The building operated as a retail dairy for 40 years until it went out of business in 1974.

Today Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle is an old-timey diner that serves burgers, sandwiches and addictive milkshakes.

Thanks to local firefighters, the buildings were saved, and the owners were even able to save most of the old photos of the Milk Bottle that were hanging inside.
Thankfully the Spokane community still has its favorite lunch spot.
