It’s been 12 years coming, but after a long wait, the newest biking destination in Portland has arrived. Situated between two highways on the east side of town, this urban oasis is a haven for mountain biking fans and hikers, and it’s only been open a week.
The first phase of the 38-acre project, The Dirt Lab, is complete, and features 5 great mountain biking trails for riders of all levels.

The only issue is getting there. Gateway Green is situated on the I-205 bike path, so that means you are going to have to walk or bike in, as there are no cars allowed.

The closest entry points on the bike trail are in Maywood Park and the Gateway Transit Center. The Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center is another close location on the bike path. If you go to either the Parkrose/Sumner or Gateway Transit Centers, you can use the Park and Ride lots to house your car while you go exploring.

Be sure to have plenty of water and a snack on hand when you arrive. You are not going to want to tear yourself away from the fun at this eastside destination once you get there.
