These abandoned, eccentric homes in New Jersey are incredibly unique, and were once meant to be the visionary home of the 21st-century. These unique homes were designed by Matti Suuronen, and were an off-beat housing movement in the 1960s and early 1970s.

The homes often feature a distinctive flying saucer shape, and airplane hatch doors. They were meant to be the sustainable homes of the future.

They’re made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester plastic and polyester-polyurethane, and measure about 26 feet in diameter.

Fewer than 100 were built, which makes these abandoned examples in New Jersey extremely rare.
