Most people who travel to northern Minnesota do so to sleep in a tent, hike through the woods, and cook over a campfire. Expecting to spend the entire time away from civilization, they overlook the possibility of eating at a restaurant. But that would be a mistake. Why? Because there’s at least one great restaurant located deep within the Superior National Forest. The Trestle Inn Restaurant & Saloon is a bit out of the way, but it is definitely worth the stop.

The Trestle Inn has an interesting history. It was constructed in the 1980s from an abandoned 1920s railroad trestle made of Douglas fir.
