This Beloved Texas Beach Is Finally Reopening And We Couldn T Be Happier Only In Your State

Summer has arrived in Texas and the quest to find ways to stay cool is in full force. In addition to spring-fed pools and natural waterslides, you can add one of the state’s most beloved swimming spots to your bucket list. After over a decade, the gates at Island View Park have re-opened and swimmers can again enjoy Lake Texoma. Here’s more information about the cleanup process that has transformed this summer destination:

The beach has recently reopened to swimmers and visitors after having locked gates since 2001.

Although the park had officially been closed for the past sixteen years, patrons would still find their way to this gem of a beach.

Unfortunately, with no one to consistently monitor the shoreline, the beach became covered in trash and broken bottles.

The Lighthouse Marina saw the potential in this area and dedicated major time and resources to cleaning up the park.

Weeks of time were dedicated to simply removing all of the trash from the beach. After that, picnic tables and covered shelters were added.

When you visit the park today, you’ll notice it’s undergone nothing short of a transformation. What used to be a collecting place for broken bottles and forgotten trash has now become a family-friendly sanctuary for beachgoers.
