If you’re looking for an old-fashioned way to satisfy your sweet tooth, look no further than the small Arkansas/Missouri border town of Garfield. In this town you’ll find Martin Greer’s Candies. The Greer family has been making candy in Arkansas since the 1920s, when M.L. Greer started making candies in the kitchen of the family farm and took them into town to sell on Saturdays.
Within the past 80 years, things have changed a lot for the Greers. They have a storefront now, and a third generation of Greers has taken over the craftsmanship of cooking delicious candies. One thing hasn’t changed, though. The Greers still use fresh ingredients and recipes that were originally published in 1897.
