It’s no secret that we’re big on fishing here in Texas. It’s a sport that brings people together, and the feeling of catching your own dinner is indescribably rewarding. Unfortunately, many of the towns that got their start because of the fishing industry have changed beyond recognition and are now either tourist traps or bigger cities that have switched to more modern sources of revenue.
However, one town stands out among all the others: the town of Fulton. This coastal community has its roots in fishing and hasn’t changed to accommodate our faster-paced world. When you visit, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a time machine back to simpler days. The people are friendly, the shops and restaurants are charming, and the nostalgia is heavy and bittersweet.

You can even tour a replica of The Fulton Mansion which was built in 1877 and had running water, central heating, and gas lighting - an absolute marvel for its time.

If you visit in March, you’ll get to experience the famous Oysterfest: a celebration with carnival rides, merchants, an oyster eating contest, live music, fireworks, and more.
