Texas has its fair share of hotels rumored to be haunted, but most of them are just legends with no real evidence to back up the claims. The Holland Hotel in Alpine, however, is different. Many people have actually seen and interacted with multiple spirits…including the guest you’ll read about in this article. Her story will make every hair on your body stand up and send chills down your spine.

It’s no surprise that the Holland Hotel is haunted considering it has been around for nearly a century.

There have been sightings of numerous ghosts, but one in particular sends guests running for the hills on a regular basis.

One woman, upon returning from a wedding late at night, discovered a photograph of a woman and child on the floor of her hotel room.

Though obviously out of place, it appeared to be a normal picture…other than the paper mache mask the mother was wearing.

The mask looked something like this. Creepy, right? The guest thought so, too, but she managed to shrug it off and try to get some sleep.

As soon as she started to nod off, she heard a scratching on the bathroom door. She thought it was a rat, but found nothing upon opening the door to investigate.

She decided to sleep with the bathroom light on to scare away whatever critter was in there, but the “critter” had other ideas.

As soon as she got back into bed, she saw something being pushed underneath the bathroom door from the inside. It was a mask exactly like the one in the photograph. Before she could pick it up, it disintegrated, leaving no trace. The guest, understandably, left that night.
