Who’s your favorite fictional fairy? Mine is Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty. As a little girl, I used to dream of being Aurora and having my very own miniature godmothers watching over me and guiding me through life. What if, even only for a few hours, that dream could become reality; I could step into my very own whimsical world where fairies actually exist?

Every May, we all have the opportunity to do just that at the Woodland Fairy Trail in Austin’s Zilker Metropolitan Park. So whether you’re 8 or 80, mark your calendars for this magical event because it’s never too old to let your inner Disney Princess come out and play.

So what exactly IS a fairy trail, you might ask?

It’s a whimsical path on which locals, both young and old, have crafted adorable little houses that look like those of fairies.

The builders aren’t competing for anything aside from the oohs and aahs of onlookers, but you’ll beg to differ based on how elaborate their creations are.

The little ones will be in awe. They’ll peer through the tiny windows and doors to see if Tinkerbell is fluttering around in there.

And you might just follow suit - that’s how real the houses look!

So if you want to escape to a land of fantasy and whimsy for a day (of course you do!)…

Have you been to the Fairy Trail? What would your little house look like if you had the opportunity to build one?
