Lethal gas. Lethal injection. Murder. Nevada State Prison was no stranger to death. Considering more than 40 of the state’s most dangerous criminals were executed or killed there, there’s also strong speculation that this haunted Nevada prison is no stranger to evil spirits.

Opening in 1862, Nevada State Prison was the state’s only designated facility for executions during the 20th century. The prison carried out the nation’s first death sentence by gas chamber in 1924 and Nevada’s first death sentence by lethal injection in 1985.

Ed Pierce, a Senior Reporter for KOLO 8 News in Carson City accompanied the group on their investigation. Pierce, who described himself as a skeptic, admits he saw an unexplained figure peering in the window of a door that leads out to the prison yard.Another group of paranormal investigators, Emphatic Paranormal, toured the prison in 2016. What they experienced inside this haunted Nevada prison will chill you to the bone: The prison, located at the southeast corner of Fifth Street and Interstate 580 in Carson City, was in continuous operation until it was closed for budgetary reasons in 2012. The prison’s gas chamber is still being used (if needed) for lethal injections, though the last execution was in 2006.
