If you follow this site closely, you probably know by now that there are many incredible state parks with amazing trails to explore in Indiana. While some might argue the most beautiful hike is at the Dunes or in Brown County, there’s an often overlooked state park with stunning sights that might just change your mind.

Trevor Klatko/Flickr Shades State Park in Waveland, Indiana is a peaceful place offering incredible sights of sandstone cliffs and deep ravines. This park also sits along Sugar Creek and has some amazing trails to hike.

Mark Moschell/Flickr While all of the trails located within Shades State Park are fairly short and beautiful, Trail 1 offers special glimpses of the Devil’s Punchbowl, ravines, and waterfalls. This trail is under 1 mile, but it’s a little more rugged than most short trails.
