The abandoned vacationing town of Elkmont is located in East Tennessee, and has been a place of legends and questions for years. The town was left to crumble after the land changed hands, but what does it look like now? Is it even still there? Oh yes. It is. And we found it – continue on, if you aren’t scared of ghosts.

The area was originally settled by logging companies for their workers, but eventually the wealthier folk decided to build their summer cottages on the land. For awhile, it was a bustling area full of life and laughter.

Joel Kramer - Flickr The entire area is abandoned, the whole of the place let loose to the wild after the national park bought out the area and inhabitants had to live out their leases then move elsewhere. The sweet cottages and gorgeous spot in the woods were simply left - it’s that simple.
