Did you know there’s a great big throne waiting in the Arkansas wilderness? The large sandstone formation, called Sam’s Throne, offers some of the best hiking and rock climbing in the Natural State. It’s one of the premiere destinations for rock climbers from all over, but that is not the limit of its appeal. Those of us who don’t prefer the strenuous work of climbing will find a loop trail that takes us past the beautiful formations and through an incredible forest up to the top of the throne. The hike will lead you to near the top of Mount Judea, where you can see views of the Big Creek Valley.

There’s a recreation area at Sam’s Throne, and it’s a great place to embark on an amazing hike. You’ll find directions here.

There’s nothing like the beautiful natural details you’ll find along the trail.
