Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married…and you can meet us right here. Tucked away in Northern California is one of the sweetest little chapels you’ll ever lay your eyes on. This tiny chapel has a history and just in case you’re looking for an adorable spot to tie the knot, the city of Rocklin has you covered!

Built in 1883, Old St. Mary’s Chapel was St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church. But, the congregation grew to over 100 parishioners and had to find another church home – leaving this one behind.

In 2004 it was set for demolition but the good people of the city of Rocklin historical society got together and saved it. The moved it to Front street and got busy refurbishing it and making it pretty again.

Its new home is now conveniently located right by the Amtrak station which is perfect for out of town guests! There’s lots of dining and lodging accommodations close by, too.

This 130 year old church was pretty worn out with its steeple destroyed by woodpeckers and weather – it had to be rebuilt. The bell had been stolen. The bell there today is on loan from another kind church in the area.

What makes this spot so sweet – besides the obvious– is that it can be used as a wedding venue for those who appreciate a simpler time.

St. Mary’s stands today as a nondenominational chapel. This means you’re welcome to bring your pastor or minister to officiate your event. The front is like something out of a fairy tale. Those stairs would be a wonderful spot to put all of your family for a photo!

There’s a tradition once the bride and groom are married and this is it. They walk out as man and wife and the first thing they do is ring the bell together three times. So, tell Aunt Edna to bring her ear plugs.
