Everyone has a few voyeuristic tendencies, otherwise, what would explain the fascination with webcams? In Wyoming, we have hundreds, maybe thousands of them streaming live footage, but one webcam trained on an ostensibly ordinary street corner has captured the world’s attention.
Of all the town squares in all the towns in Wyoming, the intersection at the corner of Broadway and Cache in Jackson Hole has become a livestream sensation.
See Jackson Hole/YouTube On any given day, the webcam could have several hundred viewers but that number fluctuates and occasionally jumps into the thousands. Some speculate that it was YouTube’s recommendation of the webcam in the fall of 2016 that caused the largest viewer increase.
Perhaps it’s the strategic location of the camera, perched outside Pizza Caldera on Broadway, that’s the reason for the high viewership. Positioned as it is, it’s in the perfect place to catch some interesting action, such as scofflaws running red lights.
