One of our favorite places to visit in Essex County, Ticonderoga has a painless 1-mile long hike that takes you to the top of Mount Defiance where you’ll have beautiful views of the town.

Tucked between the northern end of Lake George and Lake Champlain, one of the best parts about this town is that you constantly have views of the water everywhere you look.

But the main reason people travel from all over to visit here is because the town is home to America’s Most Historic Landscape, Fort Ticonderoga.
