We love Utah’s small towns, and we’re always looking for new ones to feature. This little town in northern Utah is charming, and it has something unexpected: the downtown area is full of public art.
Founded in the early 1900s, the town was originally called “Tremont,” because most of its settlers arrived from Tremont, Illinois.

The Shuman Park Bell is a wonderful piece of history in Shuman park.
Tremonton City/Facebook In the early 1900s, it rang to remind children in the town of curfew; it also served as an alert to emergencies. It’s placed in the park as an honor to John Shuman who donated some of his land for the community park.
One of the best surprises about Tremonton is the outdoor art that’s found all over town. Check out the “Children Fishing” statue in Midland Square.

Artist Jason Nessen has created many murals all around town. This one commemorates the first Golden Spike Rodeo in 1925.
