When you think of beach states, Wyoming probably isn’t one of the first to come to mind. However, with around 100 lakes, reservoirs, and rivers throughout the state, we do have some amazing beaches.
Being a mountain state, that means our beaches aren’t like most others. In fact, the beach at Leigh Lake is so exceptional, it’s often listed among the most unique in the world.

The enchanting mountain lake was named for Richard Leigh, the guide who led the first survey team from the government through the Teton and Yellowstone area.

Formed when a glacier cut through the land and melted thousands of years ago, Leigh Lake is nearly 2 1/2 miles wide and nearly 3 miles long.
