While all of Virginia’s lakes are certainly exquisite, few people realize that one can be accessed from a mountain peak. Hidden Valley Lake in southwestern Virginia can be found at over 3,000 feet above sea level. This local gem is especially popular among fishermen, although the area also lends itself to other activities such as hiking. Here’s more information about Hidden Lake, your next scenic destination.

Hidden Valley Lake is tucked away in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, just outside of the town of Abingdon.

Unlike most of Virginia’s lakes, Hidden Valley Lake is actually located on top of a mountain.

Resting at nearly 3,500 feet, this lake is truly unlike any other that you’ll find.

As you can see from these photographs, the northern side of the lake is almost completely surrounded by forest.

The opposing side has more embankment, which makes this site a popular one among fishermen.
