There’s something magical about this beautiful blue pool in Oregon.

Formally known as Tamolitch Pool (and colloquially known as Blue Pool), this stunning hidden gem is breathtakingly beautiful. Located in Linn County, this lovely little lake is tucked away in a gorgeous old growth forest, and it’s the perfect destination for an unforgettable summer outing.

The water is crystal clear and perfectly still; not to mention, its vibrant blue color will astound you. Once the basin of a waterfall, this majestic pool is actually sourced from an underground portion of the McKenzie River that rises to the surface through an ancient underground lava bed. Occasionally the waterfall will return when runoff flows from the nearby McKenzie River.

To get there, you’ll take a picturesque 2-mile hike through a mossy green forest past glittering streams, ancient trees, and more, on a short stretch of the McKenzie River Trail.

This natural wonder is absolutely spectacular. The sapphire-hued water looks like something from a dream.
