Baltimore has its share of historic cemeteries. Previously, we wrote about Green Mount Cemetery, which is perfect if you’re looking to explore eerily beautiful memorial statues. But if it’s a spooky experience you seek, then head to the following spot. This haunting cemetery is known for disturbing tales and paranormal happenings.
Westminster Hall is located on the corner of West Fayette and North Greene Street. Although this intricately detailed building is beautiful to see up close, it’s the cemetery in which visitors flock.

The burial ground is mostly known as the final resting place of Edgar Allan Poe.

People travel from all over to pay tribute to Poe. It’s not uncommon to spot roses or booze placed upon the tombstone.

What many don’t know is that this spot is rumored to be haunted.

Due to Poe’s untimely death, some believe that his apparition roams around his grave site at night. He’s seen mourning the fact that he never wed, still waiting to be reunited with his love.

But plenty of other figures rest here, also speculated to have unfinished business.

It’s rumored that during the nineteenth century, medical students studying nearby occasionally buried up bodies from the cemetery for research. Decades later, it wasn’t uncommon for vandals to rob the deceased of their valuables.

Because so many of the bodies have been disturbed or moved completely, the spirits remain restless. Ghostly footsteps, unexplained cold spots, or full on sightings have been reported.

Not to worry; priests and paranormal investigators have claimed that the ghosts seem friendly.
