There’s just something so endearing about a general store. And while these types of stores aren’t nearly as common as they once were, they do still exist. Of the few still operating in Mississippi, Williams Brothers definitely stands out. Despite its rural location, the charming general store attracts visitors from near and far and has done so for decades. A real historic treasure, it’s absolutely delightful and you’ll want to visit. Known as “Williamsville” by locals, Williams Brothers is located in the small town of Philadelphia.

The family-owned general store has been in business since 1907.

In 1939, Williams Brothers was featured in National Geographic. The store was touted “as a source of anything from needles to horse collars.”

Even though the store offers a variety of “modern” merchandise, it has retained its old school feel - something you’ll realize as soon as you walk through the door.

The front of the store features a massive shoe section, which includes everything from work boots to fashionable sandals.

This area also includes the meat and cheese slicing station, which is probably the most popular feature of the store. The bacon and hoop cheese are the top sellers and said to be amazing.

Head to the back of the store, and you’ll find a tack room filled with everything from small items, like feed, to larger merchandise, including stunningly crafted saddles.

After you make your way through the tack room, be sure to step out the backdoor and explore the garden area, where you’ll find anything and everything you could possibly need for your garden.
