An attraction drawing in visitors of all ages, visiting the Kaatskill Kaleidoscope is something every New Yorker has to cross of their bucket list. While the origin of the name Catskill is often debated, many believe that the popular region was originally spelled like the Kaatskill Kaleidoscope. Free to visit if you’re staying at the Emerson Resort or if you’re a child under the age of 11, the 10-minute visual show costs only $5 dollars to experience! While the room is filled with padded boards that you can lean against to view the show, most opt to lay on the floor. After you experience the World’s Largest Kaleidoscope, you can check out an assortment of other kaleidoscopes and souvenirs in the Country Store. Put on display, you’ll also find what is claimed to be the World’s Smallest Kaleidoscope, something that has to be seen to be believed. Not far from some of our favorite small towns and serene spaces to visit like Phoenicia, Woodstock or the Ashokan Reservoir, the Kaatskill Kaleidoscope is a great place to add onto any road trip in this area.
