How do you like to enjoy the outdoors? For some, experiencing all that Mother Nature has to offer involves roughing it inside a tent. Others may prefer the coziness that comes with renting a cabin. Or, if you’re looking for a 5-star experience, you can even stay at a luxurious lakeside resort in the Ozarks.

Aside from those forms of accommodation, there’s another one that often flies under the radar. I’m talking about yurts. They may have a funny name, but they can be a lot of fun to spend the night in.

When you visit Lake of the Ozarks State Park, you can reserve your very own yurt.

Missouri State Parks/website A yurt is basically a mix between a tent and a cabin. The circular structure is covered with fabric, but held together with a wooden frame.

Compared to a tent, staying in a yurt will feel like “glamping.”

Missouri State Parks/website Each yurt comes with a log futon, log futon bunk bed, a dorm-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee table, lamp, air conditioner and heater. I don’t know about you, but that sounds way fancier than any tent I’ve ever slept in.

The yurts are hidden among the trees, giving them a more peaceful and secluded feel.
