The annual Perseid Meteor Shower will be taking place on the night of August 12th and morning of August 13th this weekend and you won’t want to miss it. In Pennsylvania those who are looking to view the shower in its truest form are advised to head out to Cherry Springs State Park.

The park is home to one of the darkest places in Pennsylvania and is considered to be one of the best viewing spots for this event in the entire country.

Taking you out into the darkness, the state park has an Astronomy Field and Night Sky Public Viewing Area that both offer a gorgeous look at the meteor shower that’s to come.

Equipped with gazing pods for serious viewers and also wonderful campsites for you to take advantage of, you’ll want want to start planning your trip to this state park ASAP if you’re interested in seeing the 2017 Perseid Meteor Shower.

Because it’s so relatively close in distance to big cities in our surrounding states, you’ll find many adventurers heading this way during the summertime.
The park’s Astronomy Field sits on top of a 2,300-foot high mountain that’s open to only those who pay a fee, are staying overnight and have astronomy equipment they’re planning to use. Visitors who are looking to enjoy a simpler experience can view this grand event from the Night Sky Public Viewing Area and campsites that are free to use.
