The 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love is being celebrated throughout the year in San Francisco. Why? In 1967, San Francisco was at that time the most publicized location for the explosion of a social movement. Before the Summer of Love it was the the Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park in January 1967 that popularized hippie culture, leading to the legendary Summer of Love.
